Wow! Sweetened drinks, fruity beverages and soda constitute the largest category of calories in the American diet, totaling 11% (about 220 calories) of what folks consume daily according to research from Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts.
So what's that all mean? Well, every 21 ounces of non-diet soda consumed has the caloric equivalent to a side of fries!
Think about that next time you are craving a soda and don't go "diet" or better yet forget the soda all together and have water instead--no calories!
